Is Rufus really an airhead?
Just because he's a rich blonde brat doesn't make him incompetant. I think that Rufus might even have been the brains behind the company while his father was still Pres. Afterall, he was the head of the Turks, and I imagine it would be quite a job to keep up with those guys! I think that Rufus was underestimated from the beginning because he was so young. Most of the board members seemed to kinda resent having a "kid" boss them around. Another thing is that some people think he was a coward because he ducked out of the fight with Cloud on the roof of the office tower. Just because he's smart enough to save his own butt doesn't make him a coward! Afterall, the guy isn't exactly trained for battle. He's trained to run ShinRa from the inside.
What if he was playable?
Wouldn't it be cool if Rufus was a playable character? I dunno when you'd use him, but it would be cool all the same. I was just thinking what kinda equips he would have if he was playable. He has a long-range weapon for starters, so he wouldn't need that materia. He's pretty weak, so I'd probably designate him as a cure-all until his HP was higher. He'd need a limit break too. It would probably be something like Irvine's "shot" since they both use shotguns? I dunno. Makes sense to me.
