I made this site because I think that Rufus is an under-rated character. He's my favorite in the entire FF7 game (well, besides Reno). There aren't many Rufus shrines on the web, Only two that I know of actually, and I think he deserves more than that!
The main reason I made this site though, is because I wanted people to see the in-depth views of him; 'beneath the surface'. There is actually an on-going argument between my friends and I about if he actually dies (edit: I TOTALLY WIN LIFE), and if he was truly evil or if he was made that way by uncontrollable circumstances (you should already know where I stand there!). This was a good way to spread my opinion about Rufus-san.
Rufus is HOT. That's a reason all to itself.
This site is named Empire because I think it describes ShinRa's hold on Midgar fairly well. The word is associated with power and domination, and that's exactly how Rufus is seen. He's the most powerful man in the world, really.
Empire officially opened on Feb. 22, 2003 and was hosted at faeriekitty.net. I moved the site to my gaming domain, final-heaven.org, on Oct. 1, 2004.
This site looks best in IE 4+ or Mozilla Firefox and in a 1024x768 screen resolution. This site does work with 800x600 too though. Empire may not work properly in Netscape, because Netscape sucks. Is common fact, yes.
This layout is version 3, titled "Sold the World" after the song The Man Who Sold the World by David Bowie. Lyrics on the layout come from that song. All graphics were made/edited by me in Photoshop 7 and Paint Shop Pro. I coded all the HTML by hand in notepad and uploaded in AceFTP. Credit also goes to Enthusiast 3 which now helps to power the site. Fonts used are Bill Hicks, Arial Black, and Georgia.
